IOSH Construction and Operations Safety for Solar Power

Global growth of utility scale solar power is an indicator of the importance of solar in the renewable energy mix. Commercially viable and high-return projects are meticulously developed, well planned, effectively constructed, and operated and maintained optimally. Each phase being equally important and dependent on the one before.

This program equips Engineering, Construction and Asset Managers with a holistic view of the asset lifecycle and the impact of strategic, tactical and operational decision making on safety and asset performance.

Is this an e-learning course? Well, no. Delivered by our experienced trainers, we are harnessing the virtual environment like no one else does. Live presentations, group work, video assignments, and many more – we want to make sure you are involved and are learning through active problem solving. No, not a traditional approach to safety.

This is so much more than a standard IOSH awareness-level program. It takes a systems view of projects when helping delegates navigate through emergent properties such as time, cost, schedule and safety.

Learning Aims

By the end of this 4 day assessed programme you will be better equipped to deliver utility scale projects through:

  • Understanding the consequences of strategic and tactical decisions on asset performance and safety.
  • Designing and executing solar projects by proactively dealing with work package and asset interfaces whilst dealing with supply chain variability.
  • Appreciating the effect of social cultures when establishing project organisations and developing safe systems of work in diverse jurisdictions.
  • Developing project tools to control and monitor opportunities and risks.

Programme Content

Consisting of 7 modules, this unique programme deals with the following:

  • Growth of the global solar industry and its effect on successful project construction and O&M
  • Country factors leading to success e.g. regulation, culture and management practice
  • Health and safety risk management techniques within the context of work planning and execution
  • Using risk assessment as an operational decision making tool and setting people to work processes
  • Establishing organisational learning teams
  • Aligning organisation resources and processes to maximise asset value throughout the lifecycle
  • Contract, project and operational key performance measures
